EV battery chargers, both on-board and static, also use SiC FETs to advantage. Here, the low-loss, high frequency operation allows much smaller magnetics in output filtering — which saves weight, size, and cost — again helping with EV range for an OBC. Roadside rapid chargers using SiC FETs operating at the 100kW+ level with 400V or 800V DC outputs also see the benefit, with efficiency savings over IGBTs. Discrete SiC FET devices, paralleled as necessary are often practical and lower cost, as replacements for expensive IGBT modules. Overall, costs and wasted energy to the environment can be saved.

To make this vision possible, we have observed that the accelerator must be able to execute its own command set using its own resources including memory. To streamline the accelerator’s execution, the RISC-V should also be able to flatten out the microcode to as wide as necessary and pack all required control information to the accelerator in one command.  In addition, this accelerator command set should be aware of the RISC-V processor’s scalar registers and vector registers as well as its own resources such as control register files and memory.

My next query was about the hardware store down the street, which hasn’t had normal hours since the COVID-19 pandemic began. I wanted to find out if it was open before I made the trip.

Therefore, the requirements of future temperature gun manufacturers and solution providers on the level of thermopile sensor packaging will also be greatly improved, especially the requirements of air tightness in the packaging. The quality of the factory has been integrated into the quality of the overall thermopile sensor and the forehead thermometer gun and has become an important part.

Figure 2 compares the performance of MOV and TVS technologies operating on 250 Vac line under 1 kV surge pulse conditions. It can be observed that even though the MOV suppresses the transient, the maximum clamping voltage let through is very high at 790 V when compared to the TVS diode clamping at 517 V. The TVS diode exhibits the maximum clamping voltage to a more tolerable value.
