The reason I’m telling you all this is that I just heard the folks behind this little beauty have launched a ScratchDuino Kickstarter project. I must admit that I’m hard pressed to decide which I like best — the glittering plastic version (ooh, shiny) or the more Steampunk look and feel of the laser-cut plywood implementation. I really want to get myself one of those laser cutters.

Now Cypress has announced the PSoC 4 BLE. This device contains the same functionality as a regular PSoC 4 augmented with a BLE 2.4 GHz radio core, all implemented on a single, monolithic silicon die. Although the BLE is implemented as a hard core, its parameters can be accessed and configured like any other PSoC component. The BLE component is compliant with the entire BLE 4.1 specification; also, it supports every pre-defined profile that is currently out there, which greatly simplifies product development. In the case of a heart rate monitor application, for example, it is much easier to interface with other systems that also understand this profile.
