Figure 2 shows the results of the solution as can be seen annotated. The simple model results in the lowest value of gate-source voltage during shoot through. The more complicated model adds both the parasitic gate and source inductances and clearly results in higher shoot through voltage.

The process technologies applied to the first DSPs were measured in terms of thousands-of-a-meter or millimeters. That metric quickly dropped to millions-of-a-meter or microns. Then, in the late 1990s the industry buzzed about process technologies dropping below the one-micron level, reaching the uncharted territory of sub-micron” processes. Yet the dawning of a new century saw DSP processes being measured in billions-of-a-meter or nanometers. And over the last few years, geometries have continued to shrink from 130 nm, to 90 nm and 65 nm. With 45 nm processes technologies on the horizon, the industry is fast approaching sub-nanometer technologies.
